Electric Distribution, Pump Maintenance, Street Maintenance,
Sewer Maintenance, Water Maintenance.

 

Mission Statement:

To Provide for a clean, sanitary, and safe community for all citizens by controlling the quality of services provided by the Public Works Department.

The Town of Forest City's Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining utilities within the town. Some services are extended outside the city limits. Employees in the public works department are continually involved in employee training and certification. Our employees strive to be safety conscious at all times.

 

Electrical Department.

Overview: The Forest City Electric Department is responsible for 4,155 customers three substations, seven 1600 kw generators. Approximately 5000 meters this work includes restoring power in a safe manner with efficient service, setting poles, transformer, CT and metering, electric underground, street lighting, security lighting, electric line installation and monitoring the flow of electric current for our customers.

We continue to make system improvements to our electric system, replacing old wire poles and tree trimming. System Improvement will provide better service to our citizens. Our main goal is to try and prevent interruption in our electric system for the citizen of Forest City.

Power Outage:
To report a power outage 24 hours a day, call (828) 245-0149.

Emergency - 911

 

Pump Maintenance Department.

Maintains all pumps and pumping stations that provide water and sewer operations for the town.

 

The Street Department.

Crews follow a weekly route collecting limbs and rubbish. During the Fall and Winter months, leaves are collected at curbside according to a published schedule. The street department maintains city streets.

Sewer Department.

Maintains sewer lines and rights-of-way. This department assists residential and business customers with taps onto the town sewer system.

 

Water Department.

Water lines are maintained throughout the town and adjoining communities. Citizens are supplied pure, safe drinking water. To place a service call during regular office hours call 245-0149.

When an emergency occurs, town crews are available 24 hours a day.
