The Support Services Division primary job responsibilities are directed at enhancing police service in a support role to ensure the officers have the resources available to accomplish departmental goals and objectives. The Support Services Division is commanded by Lt. James Hoppes. Lt. Hoppes oversees fleet management, budget operations, information technology, police radio systems, records, communications and animal control.
Lt. James Hoppes began his law enforcement career with the Forest City Police Department in January of 1994. Lt. Hoppes has served at the Forest City Police Department as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Detective and Lieutenant and currently serves as the Commander of Support Services.
Lt. Hoppes has received his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. He is also a graduate of the FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Leadership Institute and alumni of the 26th class of Management Development Program (MDP) provided by the North Carolina Justice Academy.
Lt. Hoppes is married to his wife, Crystal, and they have three children, Jesse, Amber and Reece.

Sgt. Clint Hunter
Sgt. Hunter began his career with the Forest City Police Department in July 2003. Sgt. Hunter has served at the Forest City Police Department as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Property and Evidence Officer, Sergeant of Support Services and currently serves as a Special Investigator in Support Services. Sgt. Hunter oversees ABC investigations and inspections, special events, special investigations and peddler and solicitor permits.
Sgt. Hunter has received his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
He is married to his wife, Karla, and they have two children.
