On January 5, 2009, Chief Jay S. Jackson began his service with the Town of Forest City. Chief Jackson came to Forest City from Hickory Police Department where he served their department as a Captain of Support Services Division, Lieutenant/Patrol Commander, Sergeant of Investigations and Inspections for the Office of the Chief of Police, General Investigator, Patrol Officer and Commander/Team Leader of the Special Operations Team. Prior to his service at Hickory Police Department, Chief Jackson served as a NC Alcohol Law Enforcement Agent in Winston-Salem and in the Hickory district office. He was also a member of the Special Operations Team for NC Alcohol Law Enforcement and Hickory Police Department.
Chief Jackson received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice while receiving minors in Psychology and Sociology at Appalachian State University. Chief Jackson has continued his graduate studies at Appalachian State University and the University of Virginia. Chief Jackson is a graduate of the 220th Session of the FBI National Academy and a 2010 graduate of Leadership Rutherford.
Chief Jackson is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, North Carolina FBI National Academy Associates, North Carolina Police Executives Association and the North Carolina Association of Police Chiefs.
Chief Jackson is married to his wife, Amy, and they have two sons, Zane and Ethan.
