Assistant Chief Donnie Hensley began his law enforcement career with the Forest City Police Department in June of 2001. Asst. Chief Hensley has served at the Forest City Police Department as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain before being promoted to Assistant Chief. Prior to beginning his career in law enforcement, Asst. Chief Hensley served in the Army's 82nd Airborne Division and the North Carolina Army National Guard.

Asst. Chief Hensley has his Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice and Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Asst. Chief Hensley is a graduate of the NC Justice Academy Management Development Program Class 25, a 2014 graduate of Leadership Rutherford, a graduate of the 275th session of the FBI National Academy, a member of the NC Internal Affairs Investigators Association and a member of the NC FBI National Academy Association. Asst. Chief Hensley serves as the Commander of the Patrol Division, and Special Operations Team for the police department.

Asst. Chief Hensley is married to his wife, Shawna, and they have two children, Shayla and Bryson.
