Summer Reading Program

Join all the Foothills Consortium libraries, plus special guest Marcie the Balloon Fairy, at POPS in Forest City to celebrate the start of Summer Reading! Get info on reading challenges, programs, and prizes. Play some games, grab some goodies, and bring your bathing suit and sunscreen for the splash pads!

The event will be held on Monday, June 8th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at POPS in Forest City.

In case of inclement weather, the kickoff event will be held at the Forest City Clubhouse from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Little dinos are invited to join Ms. Denise for Tiny Tot Tuesdays here at the library!

These shorter storytime programs intended for children ages 0-3 will feature stories, songs, and felt board activities to help develop literacy and motor skills.

Tiny Tot Tuesdays will provide an opportunity to prepare your child for the return of Preschool STEAM Storytime in the fall.

The seven-week summer program will be held at 10:00 AM in the library’s meeting room downstairs on the scheduled dates below.

The Schiele Museum will be joining us as we learn about dinosaurs and explore how fossils are made and discovered! Children will have the opportunity to excavate skull pieces and identify the type of dinosaur they find.

Let’s get cracking! Join us at the park for a scavenger hunt and toy egg excavation activity. Children will get to excavate, identify and then take home the miniature dinosaur figure they uncover in their egg.

The program will be held Thursday, July 2nd at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM at James F. Crowe Park in Forest City.

It’s a pottery-palooza! Come and paint your own “ancient” clay pot with traditional Greek banding patterns.

Make your very own version of a prehistoric cave painting using craft paper, chalk, and paint! (Examples of cave paintings and commonly used images will be available for children to reference, but creativity is always welcome and encouraged.)

We’re ready to get crafty--Jurassic style! Come and make your own decorative dinosaur jungle terrarium that also doubles as a cool night-light for your bedroom.

The program will be held Thursday, July 23rd at 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM in the library’s meeting room downstairs.

Children who achieve their reading goals and turn in their log are invited to join us for an ice cream and bingo party at the clubhouse to celebrate! (Attendees will need to bring their special golden ticket for entry to the party.)

The finale event will be held Friday, July 31st from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at the Forest City Clubhouse.
