The Town of Forest City is accepting applications for an Information Technology Systems Administrator.

The Information Technology (IT) Systems Administrator manages the day-to-day operations of the Town’s information technology systems and is expected to exercise a considerable degree of independence, initiative, and judgement with overall responsibility for the Town’s technology resources and assets.

The IT Systems Administrator reports directly to the town manager and supervises two employees in the IT department. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and executing technology projects, managing multiple surveillance and alarm systems, and maintaining and upgrading the phone system.

The IT Systems Administrator develops and implements policies to ensure the security of network systems, maintains an accurate inventory of the Town’s IT assets, coordinates purchasing new equipment or technology services for all Town departments, and analyzes IT infrastructure and system performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other needs. This position requires the ability to prepare and manage a department budget within the guidelines provided by Town policy and procedures.

This position requires the ability to assist IT Technicians with workload and to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. The position is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions and to hazards of electrical current, loud noises, and work in high places or enclosed crawl space areas.

Applicant must be a graduate from a two-year college with a degree in information technology, computer science, or related fields and possess considerable related experience in systems administration and networking, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The Town is seeking a motivated well qualified applicant to fill the position of Marketing and Events Coordinator.

The Marketing and Events Coordinator
• coordinates, promotes, and supervises a variety of events and promotional activities, including concerts and festivals, at the Pavilion on Park Square.
• oversees all phases of event planning, including recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervising volunteer staff for events.
• markets and promotes events and activities by developing and writing news releases, public service announcements, brochures, posters, and fliers and social media communication.
• develops relationships with local and regional organizations, businesses, and citizens to promote the Town’s activities and to seek grant funds and event sponsorships.
• prepares and manages a department budget within the guidelines provided by Town policy and procedures.

Sound judgement and initiative are required in performance of the work. Extensive public contact is involved in facilitating promotional events and requires the ability to be work well under pressure. Strong public relation skills, considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of marketing and promotion are essential. This position requires the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Applicant must hold a degree in marketing, public relations, event management, or other related field and possess considerable experience in event planning activities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The Town of Forest City is accepting applications for the position of police officer with a starting salary of $39,580. Salary consideration will be based on experience. Additional benefits include: Prudential NC401K with a 5% employer contribution, death and disability income with Hartford Life Company, membership into the NC Retirement System, State Employees Health Plan/provided to the employee at no cost, 12 paid holidays per year. Lateral new hires may transfer accumulated sick leave.
