Distribution and Collections System Operator

The Town of Forest City is accepting applications for a Distribution and Collections System Operator in the Water Operations Department.

Applicant must have a high school diploma, and physical stamina to perform the work and a valid NC driver’s license. Applicant will be required to have a Commercial Driver’s License or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within six months of employment. Applicant shall be required to attend distribution/collection classes and obtain a minimum of a grade C distribution.

Hiring Salary for this position $40,199.00. Successful applicant must pass drug test and criminal background check prior to employment.

Pump Maintenance Mechanic

The Town of Forest City is accepting applications for a Pump Maintenance Mechanic.

Applicant must have a high school diploma, supplemented by training in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing trade’s desirable experience in sewer lift stations and water booster pump stations or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicant should have the physical stamina to perform the work and a valid NC driver’s license. Applicant will be required to have a Commercial Driver’s License or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within six months. Applicant shall be required to attend distribution/collection classes and obtain a minimum of a grade 1 collection certification.

Hiring Salary for this position begins at $42,209.00. Successful applicant must pass a drug test and criminal background check prior to employment.

Golf Program Manager

The Town of Forest City is accepting applications for a Golf Program Manager. Applications will be available at City Hall, 128 North Powell Street and via email HR@townofforestcity.com beginning Thursday, September 12, 2024 until filled.

The Golf Program Manager manages and maintains the Town’s clubhouse, cart storage and related facilities; coordinates the programs and activities of the golf course. The Golf Program Manager plans, coordinates and supervises programs and activities for golfers. Work involves managing the day to day activities of the pro shop, planning and scheduling tournaments, summer camps, instructional activities and management of the golf cart rental and maintenance program.

The position requires considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and policies of golf course administration, programs and activities. The position requires working knowledge of town budget, purchasing, and personnel policies and procedures. The position requires the Golf Program Manager to have the ability to deal tactfully, courteously and firmly with the public as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, community groups, coworkers, employees, superiors, and the general public. The position also requires the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

This position is subject to hazards in recreation work including working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and exposure to noise, dusts, fumes and electrical hazards. Applicant must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of , balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, pushing, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Applicant must have a high school diploma. The preferred candidate will have a degree in recreation or golf administration or closely related degree and experience in golf course management; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Hiring salary for this position starts at $51,305.00.

Police Officer

The Town of Forest City is accepting applications for the position of police officer with a minimum starting salary of $45,252. Salary consideration will be based on experience. Additional benefits include: Prudential NC401K with a 5% employer contribution, death and disability income with Hartford Life Company, membership into the NC Retirement System, State Employees Health Plan/provided to the employee at no cost, 12 paid holidays per year. Lateral new hires may transfer accumulated sick leave.

Preferred applicants will have a good knowledge of modern police practices, laws relating to arrest, search and seizure, apprehension of criminals and traffic control. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must: possess NC General Law Enforcement Certification, high school diploma/GED, have no felony convictions and a valid NC class “C” driver’s license. Prior to employment, applicants must successfully complete a physical/drug screen examination, psychological, polygraph and extensive background investigation.
