Communications & Records

In October of 2008, the Forest City Police Department discontinued the Police Communications and Dispatch.  All county police and fire dispatch are currently handled at Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department at their Central Communications Division.  In police emergencies, those needing assistance should call 911 for all police emergencies within Forest City and Rutherford County.  The administrative number for Rutherford County Central Communications is (828) 286-2911.  Those needing to speak to Forest City Police Department staff during regular business hours or those wishing to leave a message for Forest City Police Department staff after hours may call (828) 245-5555.  Follow the voicemail instructions and you can be directed to the staff with telephone services.  Those needing to speak to police staff after hours may do so by calling Central Communications.  Forest City Police Department operates under a Watch Commander structure of supervision.  The department has a supervisor serving in this capacity 7 days a week and 24 hours a day in the event you need to speak to a supervisor.

Police records may be obtained in person during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Forest City Police Department. Incident and accident reports may be available within two business days of the incident.  There is no charge for copies of accident and incident reports.  Those wishing to have their incident/accident report mailed to them may do so by mailing a request to Forest City Police Department, 187 South Church Street, Forest City, NC 28043.  The request needs to contain a pre-posted self addressed envelope for return service.
Criminal records checks are not available at Forest City Police Department.  Criminal records checks may be obtained in person at the Rutherford County Clerk’s Office.
